@cheekwood Launches "Save Cheekwood" Campaign in Response to Radical Legal Effort to Shut Down Historic Landmark

Jackson Moore and a neighborhood group called "Neighbors for Safety” filed an appeal demanding an immediate halt to all public use, educational programming and construction of city-mandated parking infrastructure at the 66-year-old non-profit institution.

The filing openly demands that the city issue a Stop Work Order for "any further use of the property," a radical action that would effectively force Cheekwood to close its gates to the public, end school field trips, and cancel all of the nonprofit’s programming, including its historic cultural events and seasonal celebrations, which have become family traditions for Nashvillians.

The "SAVE CHEEKWOOD" campaign is a call to action to Cheekwood's deep community of supporters, including local elected officials, city leaders and thousands of Middle

Tennessee families who have made countless memories at Cheekwood.

Supporters can help Cheekwood in a number of ways, including:

1. Signing a petition directed at Metro officials and the Metro Board of Zoning Appeals

2. Contacting their Metro Councilperson and asking them to support Cheekwood.

3. Urging others to lend their support.

Reflecting & Rejoicing 🎩

Last Friday was a day to gather and celebrate freedom for all in Williamson County. The Juneteenth celebration, presented by @aahsofwilliamsoncounty, brought together a number of festivities and even figures such as Abe Lincoln and Frederick Douglass made an appearance! The American Legion Post 215 raised the American and Juneteenth flags in honor of the holiday.

An Evening With Friends of @wcanimalcenter 🐾

July 31st will mark the eighth annual “An Evening with Friends,” presented by @marsglobal Petcare, benefiting the animals of the Williamson County Animal Center. All Aboard for a Summer Trains Spectacular 🚂

Through 6, 2026, America the Beautiful: National Parks & Landmarks By Rail will be on display as the largest, most elaborate model train exhibition ever presented at @cheekwood!

In conjunction with Cheekwood’s ongoing celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, the immersive installation takes visitors coast to coast through some of the nation’s most
treasured sites. Spanning the entire center lawn of the Bradford Robertson Color Garden, the exhibition features 10 running trains, more than 850 feet of track, and 25 intricately
crafted models of iconic landmarks and national parks.
